  3.     As a lifelong conservative Republican who strongly believes
  4. in free enterprise and personal freedom in general, I am deeply
  5. disappointed in our former President. Ronald Reagan's receipt
  6. of a reported $2 million (or 284 million yen) from the Japanese
  7. (NATION, Nov. 6) is an embarrassment to the American people.
  8. His hustle for library funds compounds the discomfort. Reagan
  9. has retired well at the taxpayers' expense and lives a luxurious
  10. life. Why not contribute his time and goodwill in the name of
  11. the country that is supporting him? He can never spend the
  12. fortune he already has.
